Brislington-based charity Hope for Ukraine is pleased to announce that the minibus donated by Crofts End Church in St George has arrived in Ukraine and the process of converting it into an ambulance has started. Hope for Ukraine sent two drivers through France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Romania with the minibus filled with aid received from local donors.
The charity thanks IJ McGill transport company in Keynsham for storing the items until they were able to be taken to Ukraine.
The charity says: “We also want to express thanks to the two drivers that drove the vehicle to northern Romania and delivered it to our partner agency there. The minibus behaved exceptionally well, even though each day involved a minimum of five hours’ driving. We are confident that our Ukrainian partners will be able to use the minibus to rescue people and to deliver aid into that war-torn nation.
“Our representatives have returned with details of how much the aid that has been sent is needed, and also with details of what additionally needs o be provided. Hope for Ukraine sees the need is as desperate as ever.”
